thread

“The more we can show people ‘You can live well with
dementia’, the less people will be afraid to come forward."

Inspired by the words of people living with dementia
and those supporting them.

This highly physical production blends verbatim text with acrobatics, fragmented narrative, and a breathtaking visual language to present a rich tapestry of experiences.

Hummingbird

Edith Cole worked a dead-end job in a funeral parlour. Ralph Conti worked wealthy widows for a quick buck. Neither expected to fall in love. But once they did, they just kept on falling.

Inspired by the true story of the ‘Lonely Hearts Killers’, who gripped the imagination of 1950s America, Hummingbird is dark, compelling physical theatre. Multi-award-winning, Lecoq-trained Tooth+Nail blend action, acrobatics and a distinctive visual style to tell a deviously touching tale of love and murder.

Parlour Games

1945: AN UNKNOWN MAN RETURNS TO HIS CHILDHOOD HOME.

1927: FOUR CHILDREN PLAY A DELIGHTFULLY DARK, FRIGHTFULLY FUNNY GAME.

Edward, Constance, Oliver and Theo revel in gothic fantasy – a joyfully cruel world of castles, dungeons and (willingly) kidnapped heroines. But the violence of a real and half-forgotten war lurks beyond the torchlight... Will surrounding shadows unleash the darkness within? Born of gothic novels and silent films, Parlour Games blends acrobatics, shadow-play and beautifully inventive visuals. Funny, playful and haunting theatre from award-winning Tooth+Nail.

our workshops

As a company it's important to us to be able to share our experiences with others. Our training and our working methods are different from many other companies, and different from what people may have experienced before. We offer workshops on a range of topics, and can provide courses tailored to the needs of a wide variety of students, from nursery children to those in further education.

Our Education Pack gives an overview of the kinds of workshops we can offer. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like us to provide a sample workshop, tailored to your needs.

For more information, or to discuss a workshop, please email harriet@toothandnailtheatre.com.

tooth+nail in nepal

In April 2017, Tooth+Nail set out on an incredible trip to Nepal. We went to work with two charities: OCCED Nepal which runs a children’s home in Kathmandu, and So The Child May Learn, which works to improve the educational prospects of children living in the remote middle hill regions of Nepal. These are two amazing organisations working tirelessly to improve the lives of the children in these communities.

We worked with children on drama, movement, improvisation and acrobatics, and on devising as a group to create their own piece of theatre. We feel extremely lucky to have been able to spend some time making theatre with such inspiring children and young people, and getting to know the residents of Bhimkhori Village who welcomed us into their homes and community.

For more information about these charities, and if you’d like to support them, you can find out more:
